Ronald Sasson
Self-taught furniture designer inspired by the Brazilian modernist school and mid-century design traditions.
Born in 1967 in Curitiba, Brazil, Ronald Sasson is a self-taught furniture designer whose work bridges Brazilian modernism with European craftsmanship traditions. At 18, he moved to Paris where he studied at the prestigious École Boulle, one of the world's foremost schools of fine arts and crafts.
Sasson's design language draws deeply from the Brazilian modernist school — the legacy of Oscar Niemeyer, Sergio Rodrigues, and Jorge Zalszupin — while incorporating the precision and restraint of mid-century European design. He is co-founder of Tato Design Atemporal, a studio dedicated to timeless furniture creation.
For IBTW, Sasson has developed the Concreta and Class.25 collections, which exemplify his ability to create outdoor furniture that feels both monumental and inviting — pieces that belong in the landscape as naturally as they belong in conversation.
